Do you suffer from Result Attachment?
It is human nature to become too attached to the result or outcome when swinging the golf club. The conscious mind will be over active and play the major role in this scenario. Result attachment makes the golfer come out of the shot way to early making it impossible to keep the club head parallel to the ground for solid impact. The golfer should direct attention to the subconscious mind to feel a sweet swing to achieve a positive outcome. If the result orientated conscious mind is in control when you are swinging your golf club watch out!
Symptoms may include the inability to fully swing through the shot. Your golf swing going sideways on the forward swing as your eyes seek early conformation that the golf ball is indeed going to the intended target. Shallow breathing and heart palpitations from an overdose of adrenaline from the fear of failure. Finally a pre shot process that takes a long time to complete because of doubt, tension and fear.
To cure these symptoms and to reach a state of result detachment follow these guidelines. Set up disciplines to stay in the shot for a longer period of time. Look a few inches behind the golf ball at address and keep this focal point until the swing naturally pulls you out of the shot. Place more attention on the feel of the swing than the result. Include an inhalation routine into your pre shot process so that you arrive at address in a relaxed manner both mentally and physically. Provide your conscious mind with an auto cue to keep it occupied so that you can feel a free flowing golf swing.
Drills – Visit the practice putting green. Place a tee in the green and set up a metre/yard away. This drill is all about feel not sight. Set up to putt the golf ball at the tee. Close the left eye (right handed player) and swing the putter back and through keeping your right eye focused on a spot a little behind the ball. Your right eye must stay fixed to the chosen spot to the completion of the stroke. The advantages of this drill is that your will stay steady and keep putter head low to the ground through impact. This will give you solid contact and a significant increase in feel for the putting stroke with less result attachment.
Visit the practice fairway. Set up a golf ball on the ground. Place a tee 20mm/8inches forward of the ball in line with the target line. The idea of this drill is to knock over the tee with your forward swing. Keeping the club head close to the ground through impact will increase the feel of your swing as well as provide you will solid impact. It is a win, win situation!
At home practice incorporating an inhalation routine into your pre shot process. Sit down in a comfortable couch and close your eyes. Picture yourself out playing golf. You are just about to hit a tee shot, start your pre shot process off with three deep inhalations and mentally go through the rest of the process and imagine a successful sweet feeling swing. It is that easy!

The Power of the Pre Shot Routine
The majority of golfers just do not understand or appreciate the importance of having a repeating Pre Shot Process. They are generally too eager to get up and whack the golf ball with an ill prepared golf swing. The Pre Shot Process needs to cover mental and physical relaxation, acknowledging the target, alignment, applying the correct grip and setting the perfect posture. You can either use numbers or letters to remember to complete perfectly each part of the process. Also select the order of the disciplines to suit your process.
1/A Complete three deep inhalations, imagine each breath flowing all the way down to your laces and out back through your heart. You can incorporate imagining that the breath resembles your favourite colour.
2/B Acknowledge where you would like to hit the golf ball by visually placing your attention there for a short period of time.
3/C Set your feet in line with where you want to send the golf ball. Pick a spot 30cms/1foot behind the golf ball to help line your feet up correctly to the target.
4/D Place the golf grip correctly in your hands and firmly secure. Push back on your hips to balance your shoulders so that your chest is now facing the golf ball.
This Pre Shot Process should only take the maximum of 45 seconds to complete. Avoid taking too much time to complete your routine as this gives your conscious mind time to consider impending disaster. Your Pre Shot Routine should reflect an air of confidence by consistently covering each point methodically.

Make the most used club in your golf bag your best friend!
The putter is the most used golf club in your golf bag. It would make sense to have a putter in your hands that significantly increased the odds in your favour of sinking every putt. The Quantum Performance Putter achieves this and is the brainchild of Duane Engdahl. This man is a genuine putter genius and has designed a putter that has loads of features, is precision manufactured and gets the job done.
Since March 2008 I have become the Australian Distributor and Master Dealer for the Quantum Performance Putter. This decision was not taken lightly and followed a 6month rigorous trial and testing of the Quantum Performance Putter. The clincher for me was that the Quantum Performance Putter delivered on all of its features as well as having the ability to be custom fitted and hand assembled to perfectly fit the golfer. This process allows the putter to become an extension of the golfer which leads to more sunk putts. Click on
